Renting/Tenants

The LCRA acknowledges that property owners may rent out their property, or suites/rooms within their property. It is the responsibility of the property owner/landlord to work with the LCRA Office to arrange lake access for their tenants. Please refer to the two below-listed scenarios to see which applies to you.

Scenario 1: The landlord does not live in the home and wishes to provide their tenants with lake access.

  • In this scenario, the landlord must relinquish their rights to the lake and transfer them to the tenants listed on the form. The landlord will be removed from the property profile, and will have their membership card cancelled, but will be kept on the property account as primary contact.
  • The landlord must attend the LCRA Office to complete a Renters Membership Agreement form – tenants are not permitted to complete this form.

Scenario 2: The landlord does live at the property, has additional suites/rooms for rent, and wishes to provide their tenants with lake access.

  • In this scenario, as all individuals actively live within the household, they all can have lake access. In our HOA management system, all individuals would be listed under the primary profile for the property, and must attend the LCRA Office to receive their membership card (ID requirements listed below).
  • The landlord must still attend the LCRA Office to complete a Renters Membership Agreement form – tenants are not permitted to complete this form.

Regardless of scenario, any individual wishing to have lake access (property owner, landlord, or tenant) must present valid government-issued photo ID with the Lake Chaparral property listed. You must live at the property to retain access to the LCRA amenities. If you are 15 years of age or younger, you must be vouched for by a parent that lives at the address.

It is up to the landlord to determine how annual LCRA membership fees are paid, whether they pay the fees themselves, or work them into a rental agreement. The LCRA is not responsible, nor are involved, with agreements or disputes between landlords and tenants.
