FISHING RULES

To insure a healthy ecosystem for the stocked fish, do not introduce live fish to the lake.

REQUIREMENTS:

Summer:

  • You must leave your lake card at the office before you start fishing.
  • Know what areas you are allowed to fish by looking at the map and asking for clarification from the staff.
  • Lakefront and lake access residents must follow the rules and register catches so that lake management can monitor approximate fish numbers – call the office with your catch numbers (403) 254-4148
  • One guest allowed to fish with one resident and guests need to follow all of the fishing rules

 

Winter:

  • You must leave your lake card at the office before you start fishing.

  • Ice fishing is only permitted when the CRA determines has removed the “Danger Thin Ice” signs and the Green Flag is flying.
  • Fishermen can only have 1 open hole at any given time. All holes must be filled and packed with snow prior to drilling a new one.
  • All holes must be a minimum of 5 feet apart. Ice fishing huts are allowed but may not be left up overnight.
  • Pack your fishing hole with snow before you go home for the day.
  • Take your perch with you – do not leave them on the ice.

 

REGULATIONS: 

  • Rod and hook fishing only – no net fishing
  • Barbless hooks only
  • One rod per fisher

 

LOCATIONS FOR FISHING:

Summer:

  • along the shoreline in the designated park area west of the boat ramp;
  • from row boats and canoes away from dock and beach areas;
  • from the shore of individual lake or lake access lots

Winter:

  • Ice fishing is permitted anywhere within the cleared skating path but not within 10 meters of any prepared ice surface (skating path and hockey rinks), and the small designated fishing area marked by flags beside the creek outlet – it is only a small area so first come first serve. 

 

LIMITS ON CATCH:

  • PERCH ARE UNLIMITED – take as many as you can catch but report your final number to the office. You must take the perch home with you in a compostable bag and put it in your green bin or eat them!
  • TROUT are catch and release until further notice.

 

The rules of catch and release require:

  • lip hooking
  • no use of a fishing net;
  • no live bait;
  • proper minimal handling of the fish and removal of hook with pliers; and
  • use of barb-less hooks

 

BAIT

  • No corn and no live bait
  • Recommended bait:
  • cheese slices
  • power bait
  • fresh white bread
  • small hooks and fly-fishing flies
